Carl is a graduate of Fisk University with a degree in business management and mathematics. He attended Fisk on an athletic scholarship and was captain and most valuable player of its tennis team. He won many honors for athletic and academic achievements.
He holds a Master’s Degree in business administration from Saginaw Valley State University and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Wayne State University. At Wayne, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts and was a teaching assistant on the subject. He also holds an LL.M. in taxation from New York University and he sat on the Board of the Black American Law Students Association.
He joined O’Melveny and Myers, a highly prestigious 400-attorney law firm in Los Angeles. He worked on various transactions ranging from tax and estate planning for entertainers to complicated mergers and acquisitions.
He then became executive director for Howeter Corporation, an international holding company. He was president of its Oshobori Division and traveled extensively throughout China and Hong Kong.
He is a member of numerous law and sports associations and he lives with his wife, two sons and daughter in Houston, Texas.
